Elgato Gaming has opened preorders and shared details on their new Stream Deck. A physical 15 LCD key pad that enables easier interaction with common tasks. The Stream Deck’s keys are customizable to perform any of 210 different actions. This can include switching scenes, adjusting audio, social media updates or launching media. Essentially, it’s designed to make life easier. Instead of having to remember your hotkeys, you can press a physical button. Perhaps best of all, each of the 15 LCD screens is customizable with any image you want.

It reminds me a bit of a Tricaster in that regard. It’s a physical device that helps you make live streaming easier to produce. In truth, I’m somewhat shocked that Tricaster wasn’t the one to do something like this. But, for Elgato, who are well-known in the gaming community for their streaming encoders – it’s a great idea. Being the first to market with a production tool that’s affordable and looks polished will benefit Elgato!

Elgato Stream Deck Makes Production Easier

Included with the Elgato Stream Deck includes an adjustable stand. It connects (and powered) by a USB 2.0 connection. You’ll also need Windows 10 or macOS 10.11 or later to run it. Stream Deck currently has integrations with Game Capture, OBS, Twitch, Twitter and TipeeeStream. Absent from the list is Xsplit, but, they are looking to support the platform int he near future. A standalone piece of software controls the LCD image and what each button does.
