Moments ago, Pan Am 2015 Organizers in Toronto confirmed via Twitter that Kanye West is coming to Toronto for the Pan Am closing ceremonies. The closing ceremonies had been rumoured to have someone major performing, but without confirmation our natural thought was Drake, who also performed back at the 2011 closing ceremonies in Mexico.
Kanye West’s involvement will surely signal a major spike in demand for closing ceremony tickets, so if you’re at all interested in seeing him perform alongside the closing ceremonies you should probably get your tickets immediately. What is unclear is how long he’ll be performing for, but we do know that Pitbull and Serena Ryder will join him in performances. Now Kanye is definitely a controversial figure, so whether or not you’re a fan of his probably shouldn’t matter as much as knowing that a world class city like Toronto can bring in what could be considered the most noteworthy artist in the world right now.

The games themselves have not been the traffic snarl that people feared, and while the HOV lanes have caused some delays, overall the games seem to have run very smoothly thus far with only a few issues. If the Pan Am Games were a testing ground for having the Olympics here, in terms of preparedness it seems the city is certainly capable. Cost wise though might bring up questions – these games have cost nearly $2.6 billion, significantly more than the games in 2011.
