October 26th is National Pumpkin Day. A day made famous when Sir Gerrald Pumkin took a ship through the Mississippi River and found the first orange gourds along the banks. He immediately proceeded to cut one open and exclaimed ‘Eww, what is this – Pumkin does not like.’ His shipmates found it amusing and proceeded to call those items “Pumpkins”. And thus, National Pumpkin Day was born. None of that is true except for today being National Pumpkin Day. To celebrate the day, we’re sharing some drink recipes that are NOT the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Earlier this month, we found Captain Morgan’s Jack-o-Blast, a Pumpkin Spice rum that really takes things to a new level. You may recognize the shape as it’s a new take on the “Cannon Blast” bottle. On first opening it, you’ll immediately be hit by the scent of Pumpkin, Cinnamon and naturally, rum. The taste is mild and easy on the palette. That’s probably related to the fact that it’s 30% alcohol instead of something harder. Even if you’re not a fan of rum, you should give this a shot because it’s quite tasty.

Immediately, your mind will swirl on new ways to enjoy your favorite drinks. A Jack + Coke alone tastes new, fresh and Fall appropriate. So, we’re going to avoid the more common drinks and force you to try something new. Below, find recipes to the Apple Jack-O, the Captain’s Cauldron and the Mutiny Mule.
