Sony knew they had to do something big in their smartphone line, and there’s currently not much bigger than 4K! Sony has announced a line of Xperia Z5 devices, headlined by the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. The Xperia Z5 Premium is certainly going to be a smartphone that draws a lot of attention on the market as the only smartphone with a 4K display (the standard is currently 1080p, with a few 1440p devices – but 4K resolution is 2160p). It seems like just a couple years ago we were talking about retina display and 326ppi – well this phone boasts 806ppi!
The 5.5″ screen is just one of a slew of upgrades on the device. It has a longer lasting battery sized at 3430 mAh, fast charging to get 5.5 hours of battery life on a 10 minute charge, a brand new 23MP sensor camera, with the world’s fastest autofocus (0.03 seconds) and 5x clear zoom. It also shoots in RAW, which for photographers/Instagrammers is an important feature. Oh, and it’s entirely water and dust resistant including a capless USB port.
While neither Canadian nor American pricing has been announced, in the UK it is listed at 699£ (which translates to $1400 Canadian), though it’s important to note that typically prices are a lot higher in the UK than they are in North America.
