In just under two months (58 days), the latest episode of the Star Wars franchise will hit theaters and forever change the Star Wars universe. Untouched by the hands of George Lucas, there is high hopes from Star Wars fans, and Sci-Fi fans alike who expect great things from JJ Abrams, similar to what he brought the Star Trek franchise with the initial reboot in 2009. Star Wars: The Force Awakens features a pretty interesting cast of characters, including a way to link the original trilogy to the current one through the use of older actors such as Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. It also brings Adam Driver in as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o and others to the lineup.
The official trailer launched late last night and has already racked up over 10 million views in just 12 hours. Needless to say, it’s one incredible trailer. It starts off interestingly with a “Who are you?” narration over visuals of what appears to be a crashed ship and desert. Followed by a Stormtrooper army standing ready, a crashing Tie Fighter, a destroyed Darth Vader mask and our villain promising to finish what he started. From there the trailer explodes into the meat of it with the Millennium Falcon, our first look at Han Solo, some battle scenes involving Stormtroopers, Tie Fighters, X-Wings, and Rebel Forces. And then more of that. And then more of that. Then there’s a Luke Skywalker appearance, a Princess Leia appearance and finally, a quick lightsaber standoff between John Boyega and Adam Driver.
Needless to say, this looks to be an incredible movie! Enjoy the trailer and mark it in your calendar for December 18th.
