Techmas Day 10 features the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, you can purchase it at Staples.
Samsung continues to prove why they are top of mind when it comes to tablets, as their new flagship the Galaxy Tab S2, takes all the things there was to love about the first Tab S and improves on them with one exception. The Galaxy Tab S2 is thin and light, managing to trim down the thickness to just 0.22 inches (5.6mm), and the weight down to 0.8 pounds (390g). Height wise it’s an impressive 9.7 inches by 6.7 inches wide. It should be noted, there is also an 8″ version of the tablet as well with identical specs. The front is all glass and features a AMOLED screen at a resolution of 2048 x 1536, or 264ppi. That screen is 0.8 inches smaller than the first Tab S was, but should translate into an easier to use experience as content is displayed in a more common 4:3 aspect ratio from the 16:10 that it was formerly.
A new addition to the Galaxy Tab S2 is the biometric fingerprint scanner built into the home button, which improves both security and ease of accessing the device from a locked screen. Other buttons include a standard volume rocker and power button on the side, a microSD slot below them, and stereo speakers on either side of the device.
Inside the Galaxy Tab S2, a Exynos 5433 Octacore powers the device – four at 1.9 GHz and the other four at 1.3 GHz, which enables both performance and battery saving modes. Running on Android 5.1.1, and featuring a 5870 mAh battery the device gets at least 6.5 hours of usage, which is perhaps the only downside of the Galaxy Tab S2. It also features 32GB of flash storage, but that previously mentioned microSD card allows you to add up to an additional 128GB. Overall, when it comes to tablets, Samsung has a clear winner in the Galaxy Tab S2 and it’s likely going to be on a lot of wishlists this holiday season.
