The LG G5 picks up on the highly successful LG G4 and adds a few new features to the phone. The most notable feature is its new modular design. It also has expandable storage, TWO rear cameras (and one front) and a replaceable battery (tied to its modularity). Really, there’s lots to love about the simple fact that LG brought a modular design to market because most have failed along the way. Most notable of those failures is Google who recently announced their Project Ara was behind shelved.
The LG G5 “Friends”
Right now, the LG G5 has two main modular components. One being the swappable battery, which is a rarity among smartphones these days. The second, is called the LG Cam Plus which has a comfort grip, extra battery power and camera controls. Of all the possible modular features, it’s one of the best because LG has been notorious for it’s incredible cameras. Other Friends of the LG G5, that are not tied to the modular system include a 360-degree camera and a VR viewer.
Speaking of that camera, the LG G5 has two cameras. One is a 16-megapixel standard camera with a 78-degree wide lens. The second is an 8-megapixel 135-degree wide angle lens. It also has a front-facing camera – bringing the grand total to three. The battery that comes with the LG G5 is 2800mAh, and should last as long as other comparable smartphones on the market.
As for the rest of the features of the phone, let’s highlight them in bullet form!
- A 5.3″ screen at 1440p resolution (554ppi)
- Shoots videos in 4K
- 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- 4GB of RAM
- USB-C Connection
- 32GB of Memory expandable up to 2TB.
All in all, it’s one of the best on the market today!

Disclosure: Techmas is something that I personally put together. As early as September I start making contact with brands to see if they are interested. They don’t pay me. What they do provide me with is a unit to unbox, and one to giveaway.
