It’s not every day that you see an old concept revitalized with modern technology, while still maintaining its classic-ness. It’s also fitting that the company, Wolf and Grizzly, is founded by the former product manager for Blackberry’s Keyboard. The Wolf and Grizzly Grill (or WG Grill) takes the concept of a portable over-the-fire grill and makes it both portable, modern and durable. It does that through some unique engineering and ingenuity. That’s why it comes as no surprise to us that it’s already funded on Kickstarter. (But you still have a few days left to invest if you want to get your hands on one for cheap!)

Wolf and Grizzly Grill Design

Wolf and Grizzly Grill

The Wolf and Grizzly Grill consists of two main pieces: the grill top, and the three-height frame. Traditionally, portable grills have one height option. That means you either have to build up the fire underneath it, or you’re going to have to accept lower temperatures and longer cooking times. Wolf and Grizzly has no such limitation, being able to adjust to three heights: 8.5″, 6.5″ and a laid flat option (you can throw it on top of a couple rocks/logs). This is made possible with their wire based grill top that has three ‘bullets’ to be able to adjust to the different size frame. This is exactly why we said it maintains its classic-ness.

Wolf and Grizzly Grill Materials

Instead of opting for a cheaper material like aluminum, they have gone all-in on high quality. The grill frame, which will experience the most extreme of temperatures, is made of Stainless Steel 304. SS304 is also the grill rods and the aircraft cable. For the uninitiated, SS304 is proven to be resistant to oxidation, corrosion and will remain structurally intact for ages. That material also provides incredible durability and strength – they have it rated up to 35lbs!

Simplicity and Portability

Once cooled, it’s ready to tear down in a minute. By folding it in to release tension from the grill top, allows it to come apart. The grill frame ends up folding flat, while the grill surface can roll up around the frame. Collapsed, it’s 40cm tall and weighs only 2.2lbs – ready to throw into a bag. Cleaning is easy with hot water and a wet rag.

Whether you’re an outdoorsman, a camper, or even a survivalist – the Wolf and Grizzly Grill is the real deal. Rapid setup and teardown, high quality long lasting construction and a modular height system make it a must have item. You can get one on Kickstarter for $89 CDN (only 7 remain at the time of publishing), or for $129 CDN (if the flash price is sold out!)
